Dr. Rebecca Wilson
About me
I grew up on the East Coast, in Massachusetts. I went to college in Washington, DC, before working in business consulting for several years. I transitioned to a career in clinical psychology after doing some soul searching and realizing how deeply fulfilled I am by supporting other people on their journey towards growth. I moved out to Berkeley, CA after quitting my job to start a doctoral program in clinical psychology at the Wright Institute. Even though leaving one life behind and starting a new one from scratch was challenging, I immediately felt like I had joined a community that I truly felt inspired by and excited to be a part of. Since then, I have made a point to work with a wide range of types of people. Doing so has given me more perspective, increased my overall empathy, and has enabled me to form relationships with a variety of types of people, some of whom were initially unsure of how a therapist could help them. I have worked with a people from diverse backgrounds including young professionals, the recently retired, couples in distress or wanting to deepen an already strong relationship, Veterans young and old, incarcerated individuals, middle schoolers, and medically ill hospital patients. Much of my experience has focused on working with men, which I enjoyed and continue to focus on. It has been and continues to be a gift to me to be able to support my clients as they grow and as their lives improve.
